Welcome to the Sunshine Coast BMX Club.
The Sunshine Coast BMX Club was incorporated in 1988 and we currently have approximately 80 registered members.
BMX racing is a year round sport. Sunshine Coast BMX Club races on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. Alternate Friday’s racing is at our neighbouring BMX Club, Suncoast Hinterland.
Racing commences at 7:30pm with nominations closing at 7pm. Riders compete in ability level, not age class. Groups of up to 8 riders compete on the track in each heat. Scores are awarded for finishing positions. Riders under the age of 8 years compete as Sprocket Rockets and are not scored. They are encouraged to enjoy the sport without the pressure of competition.
The evening is split into Motos which consist of groups of up to 8 riders racing each other once. At the end of each Motos the riders regroup in heats and race each other again. There are 4 – 5 Motos in a race meet.
Finals are held at the end of the last motos with the highest placed riders in each group competing against each other. Sprocket Rockets have an extra motos instead of a final.
Sunshine Coast BMX Club conducts a Cash Dash Series. The series is held over 6 race nights with the scoring for the series decided on each race placing of the rider (for 8 years and over) and participation only for under 8’s. To be eligible for prizes a rider must be a fully paid member and have ridden 4 out of 6 race meets.
There are many avenues for development within the Sport of BMX. There are Competitions at Club, Zone, State, National and International Level. BMX will become an Olympic Sport in 2008 at the Beijing Olympic Games.
Welcome to our club and have fun.

The Track
Sunshine Coast BMX Club is located in the Yandina Sports Complex, Cooloolabin Road, Yandina.
Volunteer Positions
Up to 18 volunteers are required to run normal Friday night club racing. A monthly roster is done to share the load between all club members so hopeful you might only have to help one Friday night every couple of months and all parents can get a chance to sit and enjoy their kids racing. A new volunteer will not be thrown in the deep end. They will have an experienced person run through the ropes with them and stay with them until they are confident to do that position by themselves. If you can assist please let the volunteer coordinator know and they will put you on the roster.
